This blog is to try to trace & record the family tree of my great grandfather, George Augustus Leonard De Friedland.

He was known to our family as Leonard. He was born on 30 September 1879 in Hälunda, Kronoberg, Sweden. He died in Pretoria, South Africa on 22 May 1964. He was 85 years old when he died.

Leonard De Friedland's background before arriving in South Africa is uncertain. He immigrated to United States of America from Sweden with his parents before his arrival in South Africa. He married five times & had multiple children.

I am his great-grandaughter from his second marriage to Johanna Catharina Elisabeth Jacobs, originally from Kimberley in South Africa.

NB: No official documentation ever records George Augustus Leonard De Friedland's name to include the name "von Wallenstein", nor has my family ever known him by this name.
